Wow! What an interesting week we have had. Full of some interesting and unexpected surprises. On Monday, I got a call from my voice teacher telling me a nearby Christian school had a need for a part time music teacher pre-k to 6th grade starting in two weeks. She told me she recommended me and that I should expect a call from the principal. Well, all day Monday went by and all day Tuesday and no call so I kind of put it in the back of my mind and didn't worry about it. On Wednesday, I got up as usual and did my morning routine, workout, drink coffee and read the news. This particular day, I had planned on driving up to visit my sister Amy but after talking to her that morning, we both decided it would be too wet to do some work in her garden and so rescheduled for Monday. About a half hour after hanging up with my sister, my phone rang again. It was the principal. I talked to her for a little while and expressed that I was interested and she asked if I could come and observe a few classes and meet with her that day.
Needless to say, I was driving over to the school within the hour, my resume and references in hand, praying hard that God might give me wisdom in this situation. Well, it all went well and I was very excited about the prospect after viewing the classes and talking with the principal. One slight hitch...I am still in school finishing up my classes this semester and am scheduled to student teach next semester. So I have an appointment with the head of the education department at the university on Tuesday so then I will know if I will be allowed to count this teaching towards my required student teaching. If so, He and I have decided I will take the job, if not, I will have to stay the course.
The funny thing is, that same day I was running around like a maniac, I also got a call asking me if I would be interested in another part time job at the university. I had to laugh, when it rains, it pours I guess. So pray for us that we make the right decision. I will have to make these decisions in the next week or so.
On another note, this weekend is homecoming and last night He rode a donkey for "donkey ball", a tradition now at school that involves riding donkeys and attempting to play basketball . Two years ago, I rode a donkey and that was enough of an experience for me. Those donkeys are trained to move only when the trainer makes them, otherwise, they just stand there. But it is funny to watch. I'll see if I can get some pictures of He on the donkey for all of you next time. There was also a powder puff game which was fun to watch (It seemed to me that the freshman girls crushed the upper class women in this game...!).
Thursday night, the big debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden. He and I both watched it and thought Palin was very good and articulate. Catching the news though, you would never think that. It is interesting how the media spins these things. Thankfully, the Lord is in control.
