Little Surfer Girl

Tuesday, I took Kira to visit Grammie D at her house. She sometimes works from home and this was one of those days. I have taken her to see my mother a number of times but Tom's mom hasn't gotten to see her as much so hopefully she had a good time...I know we did! We had lunch together and then I took her on a walk around town (and we just happened to walk by Starbucks) while Grammie D worked some more.

Wednesday was Kira's first trip to the beach! On Wed., tom came home from work and asked if I would be up for taking her to the beach. I thought it was worth a try so we hopped in the car and drove the 50 minutes to a nearby beach. When we got there, Tom hopped in the water to use his standup paddle board and I put her in her sling and walked down the boards to get dinner with a girlfriend who came with us. She did so well! She basically slept the whole time and then right before we left, I fed her again and she was fine for the car ride home. What an adventure!
I was really impressed how good Tom was paddleboarding...I think this must take a lot of core strength to be able to do...I stuck my feet in the water to take some pics of him and the ocean temp was nice!
We got to the beach around 6PM and stayed until 8PM so it was a nice little excursion for all of us!
She stayed in her sling the whole time and slept away!
We took these pics when we got home that night...I think she was tuckered out from her time at the beach!
This morning, I took her to her doctor's visit and she is growing nicely...she now weighs 10lbs and is in the 75 percentile for height and weight. She is also sleeping a lot more nicely too lately. Last night she slept for a 4 1/2 hour stretch and the night before she slept for 6 1/2 hour stretch!!! It feels so nice to be getting more sleep lately.

Your hair looks nice by the way!

I use the Ergo when I am walking far distances with her and the sling when I am just walking around. She still is so little, she gets a little lost in the Ergo

You look great, Dawn. And Kira is really beautiful. I hope to meet her at Christmas if you make it to the Yoder gathering. We'll need to get you and Tom out to California sometime. It would be fun to surf with Tom but he'd have to get used to our cold water!

Thanks Heidi! Tom has been talking about surfing in CA for a long time! That would be a fun trip and Tom says he would love it so we'll have to put that on our radar. We hope to see you at Christmas...we are planning on being there barring any catastophes!
