I received these beautiful flowers from ProFlowers on Aug. 27 from my mother-in law for overseeing the hymn sing and they are still going strong! There were roses in the bunch but they only lasted a week.
Another week seems to have flown by! Here are some of the highlights:
Tuesday: Classes all day...tried a new meal for dinner and it turned out great...Chicken Cattchiatore with blanched broccoli and rice. The chicken was first coated with flour and then dredged in a mixture of finely chopped spinach, spices and parm. cheese. Then it was cooked first on the stove and baked in the oven for the final minutes. Yummy!
Wednesday: Drove to the next state to get pictures taken for the church directory and had dinner with mom and dad, homemade whole wheat pizza.
Thursday: Classes again all day. Played games with a bunch of students at night until late.
Friday: Work at the church...had dinner at home...made homemade pizza for dinner with mushrooms and broccoli (He loves mushrooms).
Saturday: Homework, housework in the morning and a shopping trip to BJ's with HE for some bulk items. It was pouring rain by the time we came out of the store and we both got soaked! Later, we went over a friend house for dinner and then all went out to see a not so hot movie. The most exciting thing that happened at the movie is that He managed to get a bunch of young kids kicked out of the theater who were being completely rude and disruptive! It was so funny, there must have been twenty kids that were ejected from the theater for being disruptive and He was the one brave enough to tell the security guard who they were. (I think his words were, "It was those six down there! Get them out of here!" It was so funny because when he said something, the other people in the theater joined in, I don't even remember the first half of the movie, that's how bad these kids were) When they were taken out, the rest of the people in the theater clapped, which probably only further angered these kids who then decided it would be a good idea to throw their sodas over the theater wall at us. One of the sodas got me on the arm (not too bad though) and the other one drenched one of our friends who was sitting in the same row as us. I kept thinking, where are the parents of these kids...it was ridiculous!
Sunday: from now until Nov. 23, this day will be hard for me I think. Went to church, went out to lunch with Gmom and then promptly went back to church to get everything ready for rehearsal. With forty kids in the musical, it takes a lot of planning to make sure that time is used wisely and efficiently so I am learning there is an incredible amount of time involved in getting things ready before the rehearsal even begins. Thankfully, everything went extremely well, we got quite a lot accomplished at the rehearsal and so I think all the planning beforehand was helpful in this regard. Adult choir practice also began and this went pretty well. It was nice to have adult choir after the kids since by 4:30PM yesterday, I was tired from running after all those kids and keeping them focused. Sigh. I love it but it is tired and I am feeling the effects today.
Monday: Today afforded me the opportunity to recover from yesterday so I am thankful for that. I have been reading The Grand Weaver by Ravi Zacharias at night. I must admit, I am not a huge fan of his style of writing but the message of the book is wonderful. Tonight, we are having company and He is in charge of grilling burgers while I am making a salad. We are expecting 8 people but there always seem to be more that show up. We are blessed to have a great group of close knit friends that we hang out with on a weekly basis. I enjoy the times of fellowship, game playing, food and fun and am grateful for the environment God has placed us in. I know this type of life would not be suitable for everyone but we both love the amount of interaction with younger kids that are in such a crucial time of their lives and things are never boring around here! It really is a good life and I am thankful for the blessings God gives us every day.

You have been so busy! That chicken recipe sounds really good! I can't believe what happened to you at the movies, those crazy kids. It was so nice talking to you today. I hope I can see you soon.
Life gets really busy, but at my age it is still very busy! As for the unruly kids, it just shows parental neglect. How we need disciplined people who instill right living in their children. I guess that is why I enjoyed a video at home on Saturday night!
I get tired just reading of all your activity, especially your Sunday - aren't Sundays supposed to be a day of rest? - I guess not for you for a while. Sounds like you guys have a blast with the kids, they need a good influence in their lives so it's good that you guys are there. Was good to hear from you again.
